The turmeric bug began gurgling endlessly rapidly, inside just a couple of days, which was truly energizing. That implies it's an ideal opportunity to make a normally aged turmeric pop! This is like how one would make a conventional ginger brew utilizing a ginger bug, yet with turmeric root.

The initial phase in making this formula is to get a turmeric bug going. When you have at any rate ½ cup or a greater amount of foaming turmeric bug starter, at that point you can continue with this formula.

The ginger and peppercorns are discretionary, yet suggested fixings. I think the ginger gives it somewhat more flavor, and the peppercorns increment the bioavailability of the turmeric. Additionally, I feel that 1 cup of sugar is great, however you might need to include somewhat more on the off chance that you like things on the better side.

When you are prepared to bottle the turmeric pop, first strain out the bits of turmeric that were from the bug. At that point utilize a pipe to move the soft drink into flip top jugs. Let the jugs sit at room temperature for a couple of days to half a month to develop carbonation.

This aged turmeric soft drink turned out totally delectable! I love the turmeric flavor, it's intriguing and extraordinary, yet very great. It's so ideal to have a solid and custom made option in contrast to ordinary locally acquired soft drinks, with the additional advantage of calming turmeric.

  • 6" piece fresh turmeric peeled and sliced
  • 1" piece fresh ginger peeled and sliced (optional)
  • 1 tsp black peppercorns (optional)
  • 14-16 cups filtered water
  • 1 cup sugar or more to taste
  • 1/2 cup turmeric bug

  1. Place the turmeric root, ginger, and peppercorns in a medium pot along with 8 cups of filtered water. Bring the liquid to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat, then cool slightly (just until it's not hot enough to crack a glass jar). Strain the turmeric tea into a wide mouth gallon jar.
  3. Add the sugar to the turmeric tea and stir to dissolve.
  4. Add additional filtered water to the jar, leaving 2-3" inches of headspace. Cool to room temperature.
  5. Add the turmeric bug to the cooled turmeric tea, then stir well. Cover the jar with cheesecloth secured with a rubber band.
  6. Place the jar in a dark corner. Stir once a day. It should start bubbling within a day or two. Ferment to taste, anywhere from 1-2 days in a warmer spot to 3-4 days in a cooler location.
  7. When you're ready to bottle, strain the soda to filter out the pieces from the turmeric bug. Use a funnel to transfer the soda into flip top bottles. Set the bottles aside at room temperature for a few days to a few weeks to build up carbonation. Refrigerate once fermented to your preference.
