Sugar treats as large as my face. Yes, that is actually what the objective was the point at which I began making these Soft Maple Sugar Cookies. This week has been an unpleasant week and all I needed was a delicate sweet treat that posed a flavor like Fall.

Ellie and Lyla take rests in discrete rooms. They share a room and rest together during the evening consummately, however for rest time they must be kept in various rooms. So Lyla dozes in their room in their den and Ellie dozes in the visitor room in a pack and play. It's been that route since they were around a half year old.

So yesterday, I hear this pounding clamor upstairs. At that point laughing. Turns out Ellie made sense of how to move out of the pack and play and was in there hopping on the visitor bed for as long as hour. Two emergencies later, I wound up holding her and shaking her for her snooze like she was an infant once more.

These sweet and delicate maple sugar treats pack a one-two punch with maple seasoning in the treat just as the icing – making them the ideal Fall dessert.

Ingredients :

  • 1 c unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 c maple sugar (substitute with 3/4 c regular granulated sugar if not using maple sugar)
  • 1 c light brown sugar (lightly packed)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (if you're not using maple sugar, a high quality maple extract can be used instead)
  • 1 2/3 c all purpose flour
  • 3/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 1/2 c oats (rolled oats or quick cooking oats can be used)

Instructions :

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line baking sheets with parchment.
  2. In a large bowl, using an electric mixer combine the butter and sugars until light & fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla; mix until well blended.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the dry ingredients; flour, baking soda, baking powder & salt. Whisk to combine.
  5. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture.
  6. Gently fold in the oats.
